eSignatures saving realtors and Mother Earth!

A Real Estate case where EasySignMobile saved the day! Charlie´s story won 2nd prize in our Earth Day contest:

I am a real estate lawyer and had a client who needed to quickly sign a contract for the purchase of his new luxury condo in Miami Beach, or he would lose the deal to another competing buyer. Unfortunately, he was in a remote part of the Australian Outback at the time, and while he had electricity and internet service, there was not a printer or fax machine for hundreds of miles. I had just started using EasySign and gifted him a copy of EasySign through ITunes, emailed him the contract, he signed it on his iPhone and emailed it back to me just in time to submit it to the Seller that night. Deal got signed and closed. Everyone was happy including Mother Earth…..

Just doing our part with EasySign to make deals in my business easier, and of course to help save the Outback and reduce paper waste.

eSignatures with EasySignMobile: Businesses going paperless

To celebrate Earth Day and promote awareness towards the environment, we asked our users to tell us how EasySignMobile allows them to contribute to the planet. We share with you the story that won the 3rd prize:

“My name is Bill Kemp and I am the owner of Kemp Windows & Siding in Richmond, Virginia. We have always been conscious about going paperless. We use to use a three part paper contract that was 8”x14”.  We would have to hand write the contract, bring back to the office to scan, and upload it to DropBox and store the paper contracts.  Now, we use EasySign on our iPads! We type the contract in the customers’ home; they sign the contracts with EasySign and we instantly email a copy to the customer and upload to DropBox before we leave their home. No more paper and it is much more professional. Our customers also get a kick out of signing with their finger on the iPad. Thank you for helping Kemp Windows & Siding go paperless and professional with one app.”

Thank you Bill! For your preference and for sharing your story :)

Latest EasySign v3.4.8 is now available on AppStore

Listening to our customers’  feedback over email, Twitter and other feedback channels is one of our most favorite activities. We get more thrilled when we incorporate some of those into our product and then see a smile on their faces. We are happy to announce our latest version v3.4.8 is now available for download from AppStore and our customers would be delighted to know that YOU are the voice behind the latest enhancements of this release.

In this post, we will briefly highlight the improvements and changes introduced in this release.

  • Rename both original and signed files for better file management
If you happen to keep a template and sign the same document, once for each client, you can now rename the signed document based on customer name, date or any naming scheme you choose.
  • Reimport the signed file back as an original
On long forms or document, you realize that you missed puttin a signature or initial on some page while reviewing the signed document. No longer you have to start all over again. Just reimport the signed document as an original and you can put the missing signature or as many missing items required to create the final document faster with no hassle.
  • Insert your own signature with one single tap
If you are signing a multi-page document and it requires your signature multiple times, you had to press 2 taps earlier to insert your own signature because we were asking you to review your existing saved signature every time. Now, it has been reduced to just one tap. Since you already have saved your signature once, we presume that you are happy with it and hence there is no more need to review or redraw the signature.
  • Support documents of Open Office format: .odt (text) and .ods (spreadsheet)
No longer your Open Office text and spreadsheet document will become a deal blocker because you could get a contract signed with customer instantly. Now simply tap on any .odt or .ods attachment in your email or other file sharing application on your phone and EasySign will popup to import and sign with.
  • Export your signature as an attachment to email
Sometimes, you may wish to put a personal touch in an email you are sending to someone, be a client, partner or vendor. Have you ever thought: “How about your own signature?”. Well, your wish just got granted. You now have the ability to export your signature as a PNG image from the setting screen of the app. An email message window will appear where you can type in your email with your signature image at the footer.
  • UX improvements
Last, but not the least important, we ourselves use the app a lot. We experienced that while filing a page with lots of fields in it before moving to another page, we would want to review that page if it has got all that was asked. Earlier, there was no easy way until you generated the final document. Moving forward with this release,  there is a “View/Edit” slider on each page to review your insertions easier and faster. Not only that, if you happen to be a user who imports documents by forwarding to docs@easysignmobile.com, you can refresh your document list to see the updated list by simply doing a finger pull-down gesture, as commonly found in popular applications such as Facebook, Path and etc.

We hope the latest improvements improve your EasySign experience. So, download the latest version: http://bit.ly/ADUp7Q and give it a spin.

The world is warming up to signatures on the mobile

A year ago we shared on this blog why we, the people behind EasySignMobile, do what we do. The concept of EasySign App came out of a personal necessity and a strong belief that our situation was faced by many people around the globe: getting a document signed and sent was a long and tiring process; an obvious pain nobody had figured out how to fix in early 2010. Granted there were few enterprise eSignature providers such as DocuSign, EchoSign (now Adobe) at the time, they were not the right solution for the average consumer or business person wanting the simplicity and convenience of signing a document instantly from wherever.

Intuition is a very powerful thing—more powerful than intellect.

                                                                                        - Steve jobs

EasySignMobile took the first step in enabling the consumers to do so when we launched our App in July 2010. Since then we have grown from zero to hundreds of thousands of customers in 18 months purely through word of mouth, referrals and reviews in the blogosphere. Through sheer focus and continuous iterations based on customer feedback, we´ve taken EasySign App to a level which excited the likes of Mashable, TheNextWeb, LifeHacker, Engadget, CNBC-TV and venture capitalists like Fred Wilson, Bijan Sabet and Ty Danco to write about us.

If you are working on an interesting solution to a problem, there is a high probability of others doing the same.

In the eSigning space other start-ups such as SignNow.com and HelloFax.com were also tackling the same problem from a different angle: a web based product. Our approach has been mobile from start because the most ubiquitous thing people carry is a phone. Back in 2010 we followed our intuition believing that there would come a time where people would find convenient and secure to get signatures on any document through the mobile.

Recent studies have confirmed that the number of smartphones and tablets sold worldwide exceeds the number of PCs and laptops sold in 2011.

Additionally, people´s average spending time on the mobile apps has increased by 100% over last year, surpassing their PC consumption time, according to a study by Flurry.

While our intuition turned out to be true, other eSignature providers followed with their own mobile apps, incorporating the proven workflows pioneered in EasySign App, we take that as a compliment and it proves we are not the only crazy ones because of healthy competition in this market.

While there has been a lot of debate regarding mobile vs web: Mobile First, Web Second by Fred Wilson and Web Second, Mobile First by Mark Suster, the order in which a startup needs to execute is subject to the market opportunity and their resources available. In our case, we maximize the impact of our resources by focusing on simplifying eSignatures through mobile phones and tablets.

We feel excited that 2012 is an inflection point towards mainstream usage of eSignatures and are fortunate to innovate in a space with growing momentum. We can’t wait to show all the cool features we have been working on for our customers. Finally we would like to close with Mr. Steve Jobs’s one comment who was an inspiration to us and helped us start this journey.

We made the iPod for ourselves, and when you’re doing something for yourself, or your best friend or family, you’re not going to cheese out.

This holds true for us. Happy signing and getting on with your lives sooner.

Do you need to sign and send a document with an image?

There are a number of documents which require some sort of proof in the form of an image: a company stamp, a picture of yours or a client or maybe a product sample.

Just last week we received an email saying:

I am looking to use your app on an iPad. In addition to capturing client signatures, I need to fill checkboxes and attach up to 2 photos per document: I.e. Pictures (taken with the iPad) of client ID - drivers license, military ID, etc, as required by law. Is there an attach photo option available yet?

With EasySign App, you can easily import and attach images from your Photo library in 3 quick steps.

1. Tap on the pen icon and select Company Stamp

2. Import a photo from your Photo Library or select from your previously imported stamps

3. Place the image on the desired location of the document and Save

Voilá! You are all set to send your signed document back :-)

This is one of many cool features in EasySign App that is solely put out for our valued customers. If you have suggestions for a feature you would like, please send them over to contact at easysignmobile.com.

Thank You!

Get your e-signature on a Pages or Numbers document with EasySign App

When we built EasySign App, we knew that it should handle all possible formats of documents that get exchanged between users and businesses all over the world, be it a pdf, an image, a text or spreadsheet format. As an end customer, you only care about signing that piece of paper sticking its head out while trying to move ahead in a business deal. And naturally, since the origin of our idea is rooted on iOS devices, it was evident that our customers would ask for support of Apple’s Pages and Numbers. But being proprietary formats from Apple, it was always challenging to convert them to PDFs for our users to sign. While we figure out how to natively solve this, here is a tip for our customers to sign documents of Pages / Numbers formats:

- Open your pages document on Pages app ( or Numbers documents on Numbers app) and click “share and print”under tools menu.

- Tap on “email document”, select PDF and send it to docs@easysignmobile.com

- Go to EasySign App and you will see the document inside your app waiting for you to sign and send.

Boom! it is that easy to get these Numbers and Pages formatted documents signed!

Hope you get started! Courtesy of EasySign team + Apple team, aka EasySign App + Numbers App (and Pages App).

Upgrade to latest version of EasySignMobile: iOS v3.4.7

We are starting the week bringing new features to our customers:

EasySignMobile added support for Portuguese. It was a happy coincidence to receive Appstore´s approval of the upgrade on the same day that carnival celebrations started!

You will also see we have enhanced the preview mode while editing. If you want to zoom into a document to read the small letters or to check where you placed an item, enable the edit switch for preview mode of your document.

This upgrade also allows Premium account users to turn off the default email signature while forwarding signed documents. You will find this option on the settings screen.

Thanks to your feedback we are able to detect and fix bugs and develop new features to satisfy your needs. Feel free to drop us a line at contact@easysignmobile.com.
